Here are the Students short story behind AzaadiSAT-2 - in English & தமிழ்

English Tamil Sathyavani a class eleven student and who’s father is a bus conductor turned emotional as she watched SSLV lift off in front of her eyes at Satish Dhawan Space Centre’s large viewers gallery in Sriharikota on Friday. She has played a little role in the making of AzaadiSAT-2, one of the  three satellites the rocket successfully put in the orbit. She told tellmystory.in “I want to become a Space Scientist. My inspiration is  like Kalpana Chawla and Sunita Williams”.  In another part of the gallery, Nishat Anjom, a class VIII student from a school in Karnataka too made up her mind to pursue space science. Her father is an automobile mechanic. Nishat said “When the rocket blasted off I was inspired to launch my own satellite sometime”. The project  involving 750 girls from school across India, largely from government schools from Kashmir to Kanniyakumari began last year as part of ISRO’s (Indian Space Research Organisation) launch of SSLV (Small ...

ISRO’s SSLV-D2/EOS-07 mission successful; three satellites placed in orbits - in English & தமிழ்

English Tamil In its second developmental flight, Indian Space Research Organisation’s Small Satellite Launch Vehicle (SSLV) placed three satellites, including earth observation satellite EOS-07, in intended orbits on Friday. Successful launch of SSLV D2 The success of SSLV-D2/EOS-07 mission comes after India’s smallest commercial rocket – which is 34-metre-tall and 2 metre in diameter -- failed to inject satellites into the desired orbits during its maiden flight on August 7 last year. SSLV-D2 lifted off from the first launch pad at Satish Dhawan Space Centre in Sriharikota at 9.18am.Around 13 minutes after lift-off, the three-stage rocket successfully placed EOS-07 in a circular orbit. ISRO Determines the cause of SSLV D1 Failure - in English & தமிழ்

Image
English Tamil February 1st, the ISRO announced that the investigation into the failed maiden flight of SSLV. They have determined that the cause of failure was an unexpectedly strong shock during second stage separation which resulted in off nominal readings from the accelerometers aboard the rocket's guidance system, thus triggered a "salvage mode" - a mode designed to mitigate loss of mission in the event of an anomaly - unfortunately the system worked in reverse. SSLV D1 Liftoff During separation of the second stage, SSLV's 6 accelerometers measured stronger and more sustained vibrations than expected - 8ms longer (expected: 2ms; reality: 10ms). This caused the accelerometers to believe they had experienced an anomaly, however, the ISRO reports they performed nominally through the remainder of the flight. Moving forward, the ISRO has outlined a number of corrective measures to move forward from the anomaly, they are as follows: Replace the second stage s...
